The "B" word being Boss of course! I am bringing my She's A B.O.S.S year to a complete close and embarking on a new one. I am excited that I was able to send out my curriculum boxes, inspired by "there's a meeting in my bedroom" to several cities and locations via some excellent women who happily participated. I was also excited to distribute products for hair braiding for young girls to aid with style, health and wellness. There are several other very successful components that pulled through for me. I am excited for a new year and a new theme. I smirk at people's concerns when they cannot conceptualize how I was able to program and organize "my way". I will be practicing how to explain to people how Victoria Secret Gift cards is undeniably in the league for health, wellness, body image, self esteem, quality consumer initiatives and strengthening financial management. That is where my internal fight is. As in no I do not plan on giving up my cannoli or not having pink lipstick even if I do not wear it everyday. When I was doing youth work I once implemented a Lunch Time Mentor initiative where me and another young woman would eat lunch and have discussions with middle school girls. I think I am going to brainstorm and delve into making this a program initiative for the upcoming year. I also had an experience while doing volunteer work where an awesome facilitator and community worker used "discussion cards". I am thinking about collecting ideas for discussion cards for "middle schoolers" from people who would serve as mentors, but are probably dealing with being in an over scheduled, over consuming society, Lip gloss and discussion cards might be the thing to do for this year and I think high school will be the area of focus. I am excited to see what happens.
