In present day, I have learned from my own personal experience that people have given away their ability to listen and learn. Often they are at a deficit and unable to see that books and television and all forms of communication derive from the oratory. The beginning of speaking and storytelling with words and what some people would call theatrics because they have ignored their aunties because of laughing at Madea or for laughing because they have internalized the oppression placed on them by others. Some of this oppression being caused in the spirit of metaphorically being “allergic” to a particular thing. People have cut themselves off from listening, learning, developing, finishing and providing the story of their lives and the lives of others. Generations of people challenging historians who have lived, learned, collected, witnessed and memorized “years” of occurrences and experiences worth sharing and listening too. How dare people shame the man who needs to hear what a “spear” is and what it does, still to this day. How dare people forget, avoid and shame the sharing and giving of these lessons. Especially when they say that there are news reports, newspapers, magazines, television, movies and theaters, then fail to pay to go to them or flood to them when they are available for free. There are people who have silenced the oracle and then watched the news enough times to realize that where they had planned to go, they are not equipped to be because it is the very thing they dismissed. Have you ever seen millions of young people learning to read and write and immediately giving up their festive lives to participate in what they cannot see is labeled as organized crime. Failing to commit to their education and philosophy or community but knowing to want the sneaker or the snack with no intention on participating in the society that provided and sustained these things so that they would be available. Just wanting the skill to effectively “steal the mangos” and not understand the eco system and how long it takes things to grow and why it is important to ration them out, until they can identify that this will once again work in their “favor” on their own accord. How many people have spent years arguing with a thief, a rapist, a murderer all because they did not listen to the person who could teach them that English comes in curse words and articulate in entirety what that means. How many celebrations have people missed, how many people have struggled and mistaken living for survival because someone overlooks when petty crimes are the equivalent of genocide. I am a witness of what copying other people’s growth looks like. As in how many times has a choir sung, a person spoke, a preacher preached, a teacher smelled, a person’s clothing brought someone to laughter to the point they would run out and make changes or never come back but “knowing other people’s knowing” has made the most professional and amazing of people forget to laugh out loud. So they come back continuously in the same manner and take up space, room and identity. There needs to be laughter and discussion. How many times have people been fought for addressing what is happening in the moment because they will not just repeat a message that is null and void or one that can be drafted into the one understood by who is in the room. I will always in my oracle life, the one of lived and memorized recollections know to advocate for “crying people” whose bodies fail to make tears. Their love and apologies may come in the form of blank stares that ignite and spark feelings other than interest in making amends. There are generations of people crying because they never appeared to their families and communities and that old guy down the street to tell them about the celebration that he paved the way for because these crying faces failed. There are people who are watching people die because they failed to talk about the danger of keeping the lights on and have forced people who know the danger to exist in it because they did not realize they are responsible for sharing that information. And yes, I will tell people who would have otherwise died of a cold they never knew they had that E&J can clear up the cold and flu and that their suit does meet the standards of going to the club. Some people have perverted what they never understood was meant to teach. No, I cannot see the reason to protest the biology books in school and neither can those who create it. I will advocate even if I have to witness generations of people with access to schooling have to go outside and die in a flood because they challenged the person who knew the storm was over, but that it would come again due to the clouds. Yes, the rainwater is immaculate but there is a great burden in knowing what it means to give a flood warning and witnessing people give up their ability to respond properly. I am sure there is a billionaire somewhere who only has two pennies in his possession and someone failed to respond to them because they cannot understand what happens in economics or the power of human capital. Allow me to encourage people to ask a man the importance of his suit and tie when in his presence and realize that he is not responsible for knowing how much it cost. "Excuses are the nails used to build a house of failure. And yes, maybe this is the time you choose to not build a house". Understand that things that are oratorical have a distinct and rightful place. The longevity and the distance may be unknown. However, the key is to start and if you have other tasks to do and come back to it until completion.
