A Poem Titled A Push & A Shove

A Push & A Shove

There is a girl I know

We one day had a fight

I do not recollect the reason

But she pushed me in plain sight

I would have stood up

And said something like "hey, what was that for"

Or to we need to speak

However, I learned about racism

And shoved her back

As hard as she shoved me

There is a change in my demeanor

I am more positive than one can believe

I am also high achieving

Achievement is what she could see

I would have won a pat on my back for a "hey, you response"

I saw a video and could not imagine it happening even once

This is most likely not the cause

In her mind I cannot see

I saw a video and pushed just in case

A smile and a wave

A hug and a cry

A push and a shove

Racism may be an underlying why

A subconscious thought

As in what would this girl do

A happy response

Now jail time for two

A smile and a wave

A hug and a cry

I am more of a "hey you what was that for"

One funny day at school

Let's do coffee

A "hey, you what was that for"

From me to you!
