A Poem Titled "If I Could Not Read"

October 22, 2019

If I Could Not Read

If I could not read

You would see a pretty bow

There are men of few words

“That’s Hot” is what they would want you to know

They do not have lingo

Fitted hats or Levi’s jeans

They are what some would call “fly shit”

When ass naked on the scene

They come in all shapes, colors and sizes

They could care less about a screen

All I said was “fly shit”

They applauded on the scene

Did you not notice my solo

Or who selects me from a crowd

Where did you get confused

About how many people are proud

If I did not read, I would be sitting cheerfully

In the space

I am somewhere doing things like a reader

Or you would just be noticing everyone clapping for my pretty face

You would notice my tap shoes

And what everyone had to say

I live in a world of billions

I could care less what the less than have to say

If I could not read

You would see what they have already done

You would see my pretty bow

And when without words they say "job well done"
