Poetry Titled "The Green Mile"
September 12, 2019
The Green Mile
I've seen the Green Mile
And Guns Outside My Window
Read Sapphire and Zane
Watched Videos Of Protesters Being Beat
Seen Crack Heads Run Through Their Families
Because Consumer Society Won't Turn Down The Money
They Are Dressed
They Do Not Read
I've Seen Illiterate Women Wash Clothes With The Wrong Detergent
I've Seen People Brag About Rape
And The Homeless Employed Unknowingly
I Have Seen The Cause of Crime
I Have Seen Natural Instinct
I Have Seen To Walk
I Have Seen To Lead
I Have Seen People's Distortions
I Do Not Run
Before I Met You
I Saw Tales From The Hood
I Saw Jerry Springer
I Saw Girls Fight With Me From Watching Ricki Lake
I Am No Stranger To Danger
I Am Also Nobodies Fool
You Can Sit Beside Me
I Will Not Fear You
I've wondered who has given needles to the heroin addicts
I make plans about being employable as a stripper-- while using my education just in case
I can see when the food disparity is a lifestyle choice
I have noticed pots of collard greens that no one comes to eat
I've Seen the Green Mile
