The Annoyance Of Stereotypes & Implicit Bias Coupled With A Mediated Mindset.
August 15, 2019
Soooo I am so annoyed to realize the impact of people's stereotypes and implicit bias. Mostly one's about what they think something "looks like" and comments they make when their brains are mediated and they think they will have TV Sitcom like interactions. If most people realized they only had one shot at making a comment they would completely say something different and eliminate how they joke when there is not time to give explanation. Similar to how someone would want me to defend myself about wearing tribal clothing that they think is from a NY street corner for $5 and then realize it is from Lord & Taylor-- and then want to go in on that, also. Realizing something like a tribal patterned dress I own is actually from Lord & Taylor also makes them sssshhh about how I like to wear Juicy Couture, along with my essential oils. Or comments about how I gain weight from different environments, routines and childhood injuries that I do not whine about or seek sympathy for. I love my body when it's smooth and I love it when it has rolls and cellulite that creep up on me lol. Here's to eliminating stereotypes and implicit bias on the daily!
